What do you think happens when you die?

It is a great question, but doesn’t seem to make me afraid of death. No matter how many scenarios that happen after death.

Life and Thoughts of a Baas

Ponder this question with me for a second. What do you think? I think this question has a particular beauty to it. Yes, the ultimate ending can be a scary thing to contemplate, but it’s the uncertainty behind it that makes it eerie, yet interesting to think about. Whether you believe in an afterlife or not, that’s your belief to have. I’m not trying to change your beliefs, just trying to get mine off my chest and open a conversation.

Personally, I believe that when we die we become part of the earth, accompanied by a potential everlasting darkness. That may sound like a cynical way to look at it, but hear me out for a second. I think that we will become a part of nature, and I simply can’t think of anything more beautiful and satisfying than that and I’ll attempt to explain why.

What do you think…

What Is Your Strength?

Everyone has a strength, you go out there and find yours.

The Better Man Project ™

what is your strength never never never give up winston

What is your strength? What’s going to be that one thing, that no matter the circumstance or situation, will keep you going?

There have been many times I have felt like my back was right up against the wall – like I had no room to move and that the weight of everything was weighing me down. I felt cornered. I felt stuck. I felt, moment by moment, that the walls were closing in on me. I’ve had to claw and scratch my way out a few times just to get back to a place where I could start to figure things out. I know what that is like – being in a situation where your heart is telling you one thing but you logically have convinced yourself that you must make another decision. I know what it’s like to push things into a “deal with this later” pile. But you…

Afraid of Failure? Think Like a Scientist and Get Over It

Veteran Men Entrepreneurs

I recently had a wonderful conversation with my friend, Beck Tench. During our chat, Beck told me about an interesting shift in thinking that occurred while she worked at a science museum.

During her time there, Beck said that she learned how to treat failure like a scientist.

How does a scientist treat failure? And what can we learn from their approach?

Here’s what Beck taught me…

Treat Failure Like a Scientist

When a scientist runs an experiment, there are all sorts of results that could happen. Some results are positive and some are negative, but all of them are data points. Each result is a piece of data that can ultimately lead to an answer.

And that’s exactly how a scientist treats failure: as another data point.

This is much different than how society often talks about failure. For most of us, failure feels like an indication of who…

Don’t Be Afraid To Be Who You Are

It’s often heard of when people either try to be someone or something they are not, or hide who they really are. There are a myriad of reasons that we do this. Whether it be to please other people, make ourselves look good, because we don’t like who we are, or because we’re afraid of what others may think. As some of you may be, I’m guilty of hiding who I was on several occasions. As I’ve shared, there have been times where I wasn’t comfortable with who I was, and was afraid of what others would think. Whatever reason we choose to downplay who we really are, will eventually or immediately result in unhappiness.

I’m pretty open about the insecurities I’ve dealt with in the past. I’m also open in sharing that some of my insecurities still creep up from time to time if I don’t check it. As…

I Dare you!

I always say keep a positive vibe and attitude, good things will come. Just be positive and your bound to have something great to happen to you.

Have you ever noticed the number of times a day that negative words exit your mouth in one day? Maybe not. Recently I participated in a challenge to not complain for an entire day. Talk about difficult, I found myself feeling awkwardly quiet around groups of people that I normal have lots to talk about with.

This was a rude awakening for me, I had always considered myself to be an overall positive person… Time for some quality self evaluation. So I set some ground rules for myself 1. No discussion of problems without a solution to accompany the problem 2. No discussion of a problem that has already been discussed and 3. Removing myself from any environments where mass complaining is being conducted. (Easier said than done)

Let me say that being faithful to my own rules was a challenge! At first it felt disingenuous like I wasn’t being…
